My planning

The planning process in digital design serves as the strategic foundation for creating user-centered, functional, and visually cohesive digital products such as websites, mobile applications, and software interfaces. This phase is crucial for aligning design efforts with business objectives, user needs, and technical constraints, ensuring that the final product delivers value to both users and clients.

I need to work methodically to make sure everything is well managed to ensure I meet deadlines and to be able to generate my best work .

Ideation

After defining the objectives and goals in line with the clients needs, such as target audience and the desired message. I start to brainstorm ideas and concepts through sketches with the classic pen and paper method. Allowing me to exploring different perspectives and out of the box thinking to solve the problem.

Research & Development

Allowing me to develop my ideas based on the brief, I dig deeper to grow my concept. This can take form of; market research on industry trends, target audience and competitors. As well as competitive analysis to compare designs to identify strengths and weaknesses.

To work on my design I explore various colours, typography and styles, and after some drafts have been made I send them to the client for feedback for their input if they have any ideas they want to put in.

Planning

-Market research/Audience analysis

-Vision board/mood board to identify aesthetic and style

-Sketches: on paper and digital

-Gantt chart to manage time

-Risk assessment

-Distribution - platform research, marketing strategy

Concept development

-Idea generation

-Scripting and storyboarding

-Technical planning (equipment, location)

-Pre production: Storyboarding, Wiremaps, Flowcharts, casting, budgets

-Production: filming

-Post production: editing, VFX, feedback loop

Iteration

After experimenting with different approaches, improving and collecting more feedback. I exchanging ideas with the client and refine my design, this will increase user satisfaction by incorporating feedback given, I can make sure it will meet needs and expectations of the target audience.

Does project reflect basic graphic design principles?:

Alignment, repetition, balance, proximity, visual hierarchy, contrast, colour, negative space, typography.

Design version control:

Keeping everything labelled as there will be multiple drafts so making sure which is the latest version of my  work will make things more efficient and easy to manage

Prototype

Exporting in various sizes and making sure resolution and dpi/ppi are in line with client needs for what platforms it will be presented on. Whether its for social media, billboards, printing on promotional materials, or other distributional methods.  Allowing me to make sure assets export correctly and tidy any details if necessary.

Evaluate

Once the process has been completed and approved by everyone involved then it can be released for the target audience for all to enjoy.

I reflect on challenges faced, how I overcame them, and how I grew as a digital designer. Ready to take on my next project.
